As part of ENA 2010 we invite participants to take part in the Conference Gala Dinner on Tuesday evening, 11 May, at Autoworld (http://www.autoworld.be/), Brussels’ automobiles museum. The Gala Dinner will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of FORATOM. To mark this anniversary a brochure on the history of the association will be presented, a top-level speaker will deliver a speech on the history of the nuclear industry in Europe and guests will be invited to share a birthday cake.

autoWorldAutoworld is located at the Palais du Cinquantenaire, a park located in the heart of the European district. At the end of the 19th Century Belgium was at the peak of its economic and industrial powers. The then King Leopold II decided to give the country a face-lift by developing the necessary infrastructure, building new edifices and parks ideal for lazy promenades and a museum centre located on the former military parade grounds. The Palais du Cinquantenaire is just one example of Leopold II's ambitious projects.  In fact, the architect Gédéon Bordiau's idea was to create an impressive atmosphere to highlight to the world the country’s new-found standing and technical prowess. The history of the Park du Cinquantenaire and other buildings associated with it goes back a long way and was marked by national and international exhibitions:

Autoworld invites visitors to discover automotive history through a unique and outstanding collection of more than 300 vehicles, including horse-drawn coaches, two-door sport sedans from the 50’s, dream limos, popular cars… And let’s not forget the motorcycles and the commercial vehicles!

Join us for a welcome drink at 19:30h followed by the Gala Dinner at Autoworld and celebrate with us the 50th anniversary of FORATOM.
